Today I made a braided pizza bread, I didn´t even know that this kind of shape is called braided, it really makes sense!

I love how complicated looks this recipe and how easy it is. It looks really beautiful and is so delicious.

Making the braid is the best part, so fun, and so easy. To make sure that you do it on the right way I made a picture, so you can see the lines, but basically, you want to leave like an empty space in the middle and cut some lines on the sides, so it is easy to make the braid.

Vegan veggie pizza braid The White Chestnut

I fill this delicious braided pizza bread with mushrooms, garlic, asparagus, spinach and more! I also use some miso, I´ve been enjoying miso for the last couple of months, I think it adds a really delicious taste to the recipe and it is also really healthy.

I also use black salt, but you can use Himalayan salt or any kind of salt, I like the black salt as it adds a bit of egg taste.

2 tbsp olive oil

5 chopped garlic cloves

400g chopped white closed up mushrooms

600g chopped oyster mushrooms

400g green asparagus

1/2 tsp black salt

250g chopped cherry tomatoes

1 tsp barley miso

1 tbsp white wine

125g spinach

1/2 tsp black pepper

1 tsp dried rosemary

300g tomatoe sauce

1 tsp maple syrup

1 tbsp mixed seeds

1/4 cup aquafaba

2 vegan puff pastry sheets

preparation time: 10 minutes

total time: 50 minutes

serving size: 6 serves


Add some olive oil to a medium size pan, once warm, add the chopped garlic cloves and cook until golden.

Then add the chopped mushrooms, cook until they reduce, for around, 5 minutes, then add the miso, wine, salt and pepper, cook for around another 5 minutes.

Add the rest of the ingredients, asparagus, spinach, cherry tomatoes, black pepper, rosemary and tomatoe, cook for around 10 minutes until it gets thicker, if it is to liquid it will ruin the pastry.

Meanwhile, preheat the oven to 250ºC.

Take each of the pastries and make the shape as in the picture to make this beautiful shape.

Once the filling is ready, add half of the filling that I just made and place it in the middle of the pastry.

To make that cross finish you want to fold one stripe each time, so they will get crossed as in the picture.

Once you are done with this step, add some aquafaba to get that golden finish, cook in the oven until golden.

Once it is almost done you can sprinkle some seeds on top, I do it on this way so the seeds don´t get burn.
